MILAN - (in collaboration with ANSA) Filippo Inzaghi has a bright future as a
coach. A prediction from Andrea Stramaccioni who just signed for another three
years as Inter coach; an announcement that came straight from the mouth of
president Massimo Moratti. Stramaccioni gave a lecture at a coaching course in
Coverciano that was specifically designed for the 2006 World Champion Azzurri
players.
In the classroom on the second floor of the national coaching centre,
accompanied by Roberto Samaden, director of Inter's youth academy, Stramaccioni
spoke mainly on topics concerning his experience with youth players. The Nerazzurri
coach was interviewed by Alessandro Alciato for Sky Sport Italia at the
Florence train station. "It was definitely not a lesson. I also say this
because I have nothing I'm able to teach. I'm very pleased that Renzo Ulivieri
and his staff asked me to come here, but I'd speak of the few things I've
witnessed, most of all in the youth sector, because in the end I've only logged
a few minutes in the Serie A. They were all very interested: Cannavaro, Grosso,
Nesta and Gattuso. Certainly it was a stimulating experience for me. It seemed
to me that some of them are already beginning to think as a coach. They all
looked very attentive. Perhaps I'm going against the tide here but I'd point
out Pippo Inzaghi," he stated.
Stramaccioni also encountered the Azzurri, who are preparing for the European
Championship. He had his photo taken with squad member Antonio Cassano and
Marco Materazzi, one of the 2006 World Cup winners attending the course.
"I was thrilled to see our national team preparing for this great event
and I'm sure that Prandelli is doing a great job. I respect him a lot. I really
hope to see Italy have a great tournament. We deserve it," he stressed.
Are Italy better or worse than in 2006? "I don't know. This is football,
and I'm sure that Italy will have a great European Championship. The boys are
up for it and the coach has clear ideas. I ran into a few of them in the
hallway. Forza Azzurri," replied the Inter coach.
