UCL, RANIERI: "THE GROUP IS UNITED AND HUNGRY"

In an interview with Sky Sport Italia, the coach stressed: "It's up to us to change things"

LILLE - Claudio Ranieri addressed the current issues in his interview, after the press conference, with Sky Sport Italia. "What's wrong at this moment is obvious to everyone. The fans are certainly more interested in knowing what we'll do to get out of this situation. To them I say that we're working hard, the group is united and there is much desire to come out of this. These lads have won everything, have gone through those times in which everything comes easily, everything is in your favour. Now there's a difficult situation to be faced with the same enthusiasm and determination. Working, as we are working, with all our strength and staying united, among ourselves, with the club and the fans. Now there's a storm, but it will pass. The future is bright for Inter. I'm convinced that this will pass and, as a coach, I'm working so that it will all pass quickly."

Tomorrow night is an opportunity, although on the other end of the pitch in the UEFA Champions League will be Lille, who, to date in the French league (which they won last season), have shown the most offensive firepower: "We must break their chain of play, because up front they have three very dangerous men, and we must find the right moments to give our shock to the match."

The breakdown from Ranieri on Inter's current moment is bright to those who have studied the subject. "We are struggling, as Gasperini struggled, because this group is coming off of a busy summer with stop-start preparation, players arriving late from the Copa America or hurrying back from Beijing in early August for the Italian Super Cup. The same problem is being experienced now, because we don't have time to train and we have to send players onto the pitch who have just recovered from injury. But, I repeat, these are situations that we're facing with strength and determination."

Ranieri brushed aside the latest statements from Gian Piero Gasperini and Rafa Benitez ("I don't think they could generate repercussions in the dressing room, the lads are focused on the fact of wanting to get past these problems.") and stressed once again: "I'm optimistic and calm because I see a team working hard; the storm will pass." Finally, regarding refereeing mistakes, the coach confirmed what he already said in Catania: "I don't want to play the victim. Right now everything is going wrong for us, also the negative refereeing incidents, like the one of the penalty against us on Saturday. It's up to us to change things. And we'll do it."
